John Dowling Falconry Ltd host and provide a variety of custom talks, Q&A sessions and workshops to suit the needs of your group or event. Our team of knowledgeable Falconers will endeavour to take our birds to you where possible to bring the session to life.
These sessions can be tailor-made to suit your time schedule and are ideal for:
- Art/Photography courses or local groups
- Animal Management students
- Community and social clubs
- Birdwatching or wildlife hobbyists
- Care Homes
- Scouts, Forest Schools and other clubs
Our custom educational talks cover a variety of topics to suit any curriculum or preference. These can be hosted at The Falconry Academy in Bristol or we can travel to you.
- The History of Falconry in the UK and globally
- How captive Birds of Prey are trained and cared for
- Our native Bird of Prey species and wild bird recognition
- The adaptations that allow Birds of Prey to survive in the wild
- Conservation projects and the species affected in the UK and worldwide
We actively encourage an informal and friendly atmosphere in our talks, so audience participation is welcomed and there is no such thing as a stupid question!
Our Falconers will (where possible) bring a selection of live birds, giving you the opportunity to see these fascinating animals up close, take pictures and admire their unique adaptations.
If you are interested in booking us for a session, we recommend that you contact us as far in advance as possible so we can discuss your requirements and secure our availability.
If you run a Photography course, club or workshop group we can host a tailored session using our stunning Birds of Prey. This can be either a full day structured between practical sessions and reviewing your work or a shorter duration of your choice.
We can host your workshop using our cabin and extensive grounds at The Falconry Academy in Bristol, or for larger groups there are classrooms available to hire at The Avon Riding Centre where the Academy is based. Alternatively we can travel to your venue and adapt our team of birds to suit the space.
The team of birds we bring can include Hawks, Falcons and Owls. We can display them tethered on perches or our Falconers can fly them for you and work with your photographers to try and capture the best shots.
- Harris’ Hawk
- Common Buzzard
- Common Kestrel
- Barn Owl
- Tawny Owl
- Indian Eagle Owl
- Peregrine Falcon
- Hybrid Falcons
